“It’s a Small World (Six Feet Apart Version)” [Poem/Song Lyrics]

It’s amazing how easy it’s been to go from amusing myself with a quick parody like this to crying for what has happened and will happen to so many people. I’m at a loss. And I know that this is a very narrow snapshot of what life looks like right now. But I hope this at least gives a few people a chuckle, and I hope you and yours are safe and well.

“It’s a Small World (Six Feet Apart Version)”

It’s six hundred square feet
With hardwood floors,
And we’re stuck inside
Staring at the doors.
With one shower to share,
Of course tempers will flare.
It’s a small world after all.

It’s a small world after all,
Standing only one floor tall.
Life exists within four walls.
It’s a small world after all.

But we’re living under
A viral threat,
So canned goods found back
In the cabinet
Bought in 2013
Have become haute cuisine.
It’s a small world after all.

It’s a small world after all.
Life has slowed down to a crawl.
Might as well give friends a call.
It’s a small world after all.

And with Netflix and
Animal Crossing,
We can now enjoy
Social distancing.
Stay inside, show you care,
‘Cause we breathe the same air.
It’s a small world after all.

It’s a small world after all,
But you have apps to install.
(Hope your wi-fi doesn’t stall!)
It’s a small, small world.
